Curb Records/Nashville artist Jo Dee Messina is doing the unthinkable this month by running a half-marathon for the Rock 'n' Roll San Antonio Marathon benefitting Susan G. Komen and then performing in a post-race concert on Sunday, November 11th.
"Jo Dee Messina is a Country music sensation and she will surely offer a memorable celebration for the participants and spectators alike," said Event Director, Kim Messey. "From our loyal Rock 'n' Roll alumni to a host of new runners, we know participants will be eager to cross the finish line at the iconic Alamodome and jam along to her chart topping hits."
"I'm so excited to be participating in this year's Rock 'n' Roll San Antonio," said Messina. "The Rock 'n' Roll Marathon Series is always put together well and they make every runner feel special."
Messina began to run originally to lose weight, but she found herself becoming passionate for the sport after she ran the 2006 Boston Marathon.
"I begin my training in a week and already have a pretty good base," Messina said. "I'm not really fast, so I hope I make it back in time for the show. I hear they have a great one planned (she added with a wink). I'm definitely more nervous about the run than the show. But, I'm looking forward to both."
Over 30,000 participants and music fans will commemorate the day's accomplishments at the finish line festival at the Alamodome.
