Curb Records Nashville artist Clay Walker has publicly battled multiple sclerosis (MS) over the years, and as a public figure, now stands as the spokesperson for a new national public service campaign called "Stick With It!" The campaign educates about relapsing-remitting multiple sclerosis (RRMS) and how to manage the disease over the long term.
Walker himself founded a charity several years ago, to help those living with the disease. The organization, called "Band Against MS (BAMS)," in addition to Teva Pharmaceuticals have partnered up to lend support to the "Stick With It!" campaign as well.
"There's a lot of information out there about RRMS, and some of it can be confusing. But it's important not to give up -- it took almost a year of working with my neurologist before I found the routine that worked best, and now that I have found my groove, I stick with it and encourage others to do the same," said Clay.
It is important to have education incentives available to those suffering from MS, due to the staggering statistics of relapse in those who do not properly manage the disease. Clinical studies show that patients who have gaps in their therapy lasting 90 days or more, are twice as likely to experience a severe relapse.
For every "like" of the "Stick With It!" Facebook page, Teva Pharmaceuticals will donate $1 towards MS research. Find out more at www.facebook.com/StickWithItRRMS. For more on Clay Walker, visit www.ClayWalker.com.
