Manika Ward, who performas as Manika, is an American singer and songwriter. Manika was born in Las Vegas.
From an early age, Manika was interested in music, singing, songwriting and taught herself piano and guitar. She was discovered by Michael Jackson's long-time manager, music exec Frank DiLeo. Manika was 17 years old when she was discovered by DiLeo. Manika had won the outstanding performance award three years in a row at the National Performing Arts Festival in New York City when DiLeo announced, "I am coming out of retirement to manage one last big act: Manika". Manika then graduated high school a year early (as valedictorian) to pursue her music and writing career.
Manika toured with One Direction on their North American tour. She also performed at the Hollywood Style Awards, the nationally-televised Hallmark Hollywood Christmas Parade, KISS FM's Wango Tango, headlined the Girl Scouts' 100th Anniversary Tour and headlined Pepsi's Shop Til You Rock Tour (2011).
Manika's debut single was "Just Can't Let You Go" (featuring Young Money's Lil Twist). Manika's debut album MANIKA includes 28 songs with 5 music videos.
At age 15 Manika wrote the children's book The Exciting Adventures of BOO and donated the proceeds to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) and served as their teen spokesperson. Manika also read her book to inner-city schoolchildren and young cancer patients. Her experiences with the underprivileged and unfortunate inspired one of her songs on her debut double-album, "Through the Eyes of the Young". Manika donated the proceeds from this song to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
Manika currently has four-and-a-half million fans on Facebook and Twitter.
