Gabby Barrett was born in Munhall, PA on March 5, 2000. She started singing as a young girl, entering vocal talent contests and eventually joining the choir at a church near her home. In 2018, she auditioned for season 16 of American Idol and ultimately finished third. After which, she began work on her debut EP, The Fireflies.
In 2019 she released the song "I Hope," which she performed on season 17 of American Idol. Soon after, she signed with Warner Music Nashville, who then offically released the single that June. In April of 2020, it went to #1 on the Country charts, becoming the first debut single by a solo female to top that chart since 2006.
Gabby's debut album, Goldmine, was released in June 2020, setting a new record for the largest streaming week ever for a debut Country album by a woman.
The song "I Hope" has been certified 2X Platinum. A new version featuring Charlie Puth was released to Pop Radio, where it's currently charted at Top 40 and Hot AC.
