Instagram Is No Longer A Photo-Sharing App
July 6, 2021
-
Last week, Head of Instagram, Adam Mosseri, gave us a sense of what’s coming to Instagram, and the more eye-opening thing Mosseri said was this:
“[Instagram is] no longer a photo-sharing app or a square photo-sharing app.”
Mosseri added video is what’s driving an immense amount of growth online for all the major platforms, and it’s a trend they will now place more focus on.
He cited the massiveness of TikTok and YouTube, so over the next couple of months – Instagram will embrace video more broadly and experiment with recommending videos and stories in your main feed from accounts you do not already follow.
This is a drastic shift for Instagram.

Tapping into emotional triggers by being entertaining, teachable, inspiring, or relatable
Showcasing your brand’s interesting and or fun voice and values
Separating from the pack by doing what others won’t or cannot do

Reply to questions that are either frequently asked or really fun ones.
Whether it's playing new songs, rehearsal or a sports-team practice - give the audience a peek into what you're listening to or watching.
Who doesn't love watching what happens when no one is typically looking?
Teach people how to do things. What do you love doing?
