Five Ways To Use Instagram Stories For Growth
July 20, 2021
-
With 500 million people using Instagram Stories every day – it would do a brand well to play around in this space.
Here’s why:
Interactions on Instagram Stories (anywhere, really) train the algorithm (the code set in place that dictates what we see) to trust we are generating entertaining content + boosting the audience’s experience with you and for Instagram.(It matters to the platforms we are contributing to a positive user experience.)
There are a lot of cool ways to increase activity – consider the ways below to get started:
Brand-Aligned Polls & The Reaction Slider
Anyone can share a poll or reaction slider, but to stand out – make it matter by capturing and triggering emotions aligned with the brand.
What B-Dub Radio does is always fun.
While radio has done this for years over the air, pitting songs against each other in Stories is a way different feel and spin. It’s cool to see what song is winning in real-time:
And here’s one example of what a Reaction Slider looks like:
Make the polls & reaction sliders matter by aligning with why people like you in the first place, why they use and enjoy your brand.
Countdowns
Pretty self-explanatory - This is a fun feature to showcase big moments coming up.
The audience can set reminders for when the countdown is over.
“New Post”
Because it matters how quickly content receives engagement, using Stories to drive people to a new post in feed is a great hack.
Highlights
This feature is great for branding. It offers within the blink of an eye the brand’s voice and values (or lack thereof). Instagram (below) is a great example.
All these tactics and examples are fantastic branding – branding as you know builds strength in the marketplace.
Steve Jobs was the master of branding:
“Marketing is about values. It’s a complicated and noisy world, and we’re not going to get a chance to get people to remember much about us. No company is. So we have to be clear about what we want them to know about us.” – Steve Jobs
