TRIBUNE Talk WGN-A/CHICAGO and ad agency SCHAFER-CONDON-CARTER are partnering for a special live event and broadcast, "CAROLS FOR KIDS," next THURSDAY (12/15) 11:30-1:30p (CT). The show, at PIONEER COURT, the plaza outside WGN's TRIBUNE TOWER studios, will benefit the WGN RADIO NEEDIEST KIDS FUND, part of the MCCORMICK FOUNDATION. The second hour will be broadcast live, with host JOHN WILLIAMS and featuring carols and entertainment from CHICAGO BLACKHAWKS anthem singer JIM CORNELISON, BLACKHAWKS player and WGN host DANIEL CARCILLO, the CHICAGO GAY MEN'S CHORUS, WGN's own ORION SAMUELSON, and others, and LOU MALNATI'S will be serving up pizza at a suggested donation of $3 per slice.
The event was created by the ad agency last year, with its 75 employees caroling outside the WGN studios and raising almost $10,000 for the fund in lieu of sending gifts to clients. "We hope to take this event to the next level this year and raise a significant amount of money for this incredibly worthy organization," said agency CEO TIM CONDON. "In this time of need for so many families, we believe this is truly in the Holiday spirit. Our entire staff, as well as our clients and partners support us in our efforts, and we hope to have many of them joining us on Michigan Avenue for the event."
"We are so pleased that SCHAFER-CONDON-CARTER used its creativity to come up with this wonderful concept and chose the WGN RADIO NEEDIEST KIDS FUND as its beneficiary", said WGN VP/GM TOM LANGMYER. "We look forward to working with them to continue to raise money for the WGN RADIO NEEDIEST KIDS FUND and help children all over CHICAGOLAND."
