Legendary R&B singer ETTA JAMES has been hospitalized in a RIVERSIDE, CA hospital, using a breathing machine to keep her alive, SPINNER reports. Sources close to the 73-year-old revealed that the singer had incurable leukemia, and was taken to a RiVERSIDE care center on DEC. 16th.

"They took her to the hospital," manager LUPE DE-LEON said. "She was having trouble breathing, so they incubated her. She is on a breathing machine and is resting."

On top of all that, JAMES had previously overcome heroine addiction and also suffers from kidney disease and dementia.

JAMES is three-time GRAMMY AWARD singer who came to the fore in the early days of R&B music with hit songs like "The Wallflower," "Good Rockin' Daddy" and most of all, her 1961 smash, "At Last."
