CLEAR CHANNEL Talk KFI-A/LOS ANGELES morning host BILL HANDEL's "cash mob" to aid an ORANGE COUNTY toy store in danger of failing to pay its rent brought hundreds of customers to the retailer this week, reports the ORANGE COUNTY REGISTER. The station says that the store netted about $9,000 from the event, which HANDEL projects as the first in a series helping ailing businesses in the market.
HANDEL asked listeners to come to TOY BOAT TOY BOAT TOY BOAT, a longtime NEWPORT BEACH institution experiencing financial difficulty, and buy something, and a large crowd showed up to support the cause.
The host showed up for the "cash mob" as well and called in reports to BILL CARROLL's midday show. The event also collected toys for CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL OF ORANGE COUNTY, with some patrons choosing to buy toys and immediately donate them.
