FCC Denies Challenge To Change In Hawaii NCE FM Winner

The FCC has denied MAKA'AINANA BROADCASTING COMPANY, LTD.'s petition for reconsideration of the agency's recission of its tentative selection of the company as the winner among a mutually exclusive group of applicants for a new noncommercial FM on OAHU and the selection of CALVARY CHAPEL OF HONOLULU, INC. as the new tentative selectee.

MBC was selected in the initial phase of the process, granted a new facility at KANEOHE, HI, but CALVARY objected, challenging MBC getting points as an "established local applicant." The FCC reversed itself, revoked its selection of MBC, and tentatively selected CALVARY as the new winner of the comparative process for a station at HONOLULU.
