Condolences to family and friends of former WASHINGTON sportscaster DAN DANIELS, who died AUGUST 13th of complications from a fall in BETHESDA, MD at 90, reports the WASHINGTON POST.
DANIELS, whose real name was CLARENCE DRANE DANIEL, started his career at WRUF/GAINESVILLE while attending the UNIVERSITY OF FLORIDA, worked at WMBR-TV (now WJXT-TV)/JACKSONVILLE, WHOO-A (now WDYZ-A)/ORLANDO, and WAPI-A-TV (now WAPI-A and WVTM-TV)/BIRMINGHAM, then moved to WASHINGTON, where he was a sportscaster for WTOP-A and CBS affiliate WTOP-TV (now WUSA-TV) in 1956 through 1969 and at NBC O&O WRC-TV in 1969-79 before leaving the business to run his printing business. He was a radio voice of the WASHINGTON SENATORS on WTOP in 1961-68 alongside JOHN MACLEAN.
