FISHER HOUSE FOUNDATION will once again offer a special for the holidays, and production has begun on the 2012 edition of "THE GIFT." Former WGN-A/CHICAGO morning host GREG JARRETT will host the three-hour special highlighting the stories of wounded veterans and their families who have triumphed over the obstacles posed by their injuries. The special raises awareness of FISHER HOUSE, which builds and offers no-cost housing and support near Veterans Administration hospitals for the families of wounded service personnel. Last year's edition aired on 85 stations and SIRIUSXM RADIO.
“Our fighting men and women, and their families, continue to make tremendous sacrifices to protect our freedom and security,” said FISHER HOUSE Pres. DAVE COKER. “It’s only fitting that we take time during the holidays to remember and support them. Radio’s intimacy makes it the perfect medium to tell their stories.”
“My father served as a pilot in WORLD WAR II and my father-in-law was a captain in the MARINE CORPS,” said JARRETT. “I saw first-hand the devastating effects of combat on our military forces during my career as a war correspondent. I am honored to help bring comfort to those wounded warriors and their loved ones.”
The show is distributed pro bono by CUMULUS MEDIA NETWORKS and stations can sign up now to carry the special this year; reach RANDALL BLOOMQUIST of BLOOMQUIST MEDIA at randall@bloomquistmedia.com or RON RIVLIN at CUMULUS MEDIA NETWORKS at ron.rivlin@cumulus.com.
