After co-founding one of the most successful and influential new labels in INTERSCOPE RECORDS, TED FIELD would eventually leave to create RADAR PICTURES -- but now he's back in the music business. As CEO of TRAUMA 2 RECORDS (NET NEWS 8/6), FIELD, along with ROB KAHANE and THOMAS E. VAN DELL, will offer their artists a cross-platform marketing and promotion approach that will entail everything from reality TV shows to films produced by RADAR PICTURES.
"We’re trying to actually take a 360 approach to breaking our band, but we’re using other kinds of entertainment platforms to try and break them and really get them out in the world,"he told ALL ACCESS in this week's POWER PLAYER interview. "Of course, nowadays we’ll trade in social media opportunities, but we’re taking a more global approach."
In his first interview in 16 years, FIELD explained why he believes TRAUMA 2 can thrive in the current environment. "Now that we’re looking at artists in a 360 sense, we can derive revenue from other media," he said. "Our success is not wholly dependent on the sales of downloads on iTUNES. The wide variety of revenue streams helps to even that out. It’s great time to get back in business."
