A mobile ad revenue forecast conducted by eMARKETER found that GOOGLE is the once and future king of mobile ad revenue in the U.S., as it's expected to rake in over $1.4 billion in 2012. PANDORA is expected to finish second at $226 million, with TWITTER generating almost $130 million. FACEBOOK, which like TWITTER, is entering the mobile ad race this year, is expected to finish sixth with almost $73 million.
In 2013, however, the sleeping giant that is FACEBOOK awakens. While GOOGLE is expected to cash in $1,4 billion in mobile ad revenue, FACEBOOK will jump to #2, by pulling in an estimated $387 million, with PANDORA finishing third with almost $350 million.
The rankings are expected the remain pretty much the same in 2014, with GOOGLE forecast to generate over $3.5 billion in mobile ad revenue, FACEBOOK with almost $630 million, PANDORA at about $500 million and TWITTER and $444 million.
All told, mobile ad revenue in the U.S. is predicted to grow from $2.6 billion in 2012 to $6.6 billion in 2014.
