CMB Momentum Conference Recap

The 4th annual CHRISTIAN MUSIC BROADCASTERS MOMENTUM conference was held this past week in Orlando, FL. The attendance of 500+ was filled to capacity, and there were no last minute, walk-up reservations available. It was an action packed week, full of challenging speakers, amazing artists and captivating radio folk from across the US and abroad.

CMB Executive Director CHRIS LEMKE got the week started with a TownHall meeting, allowing attendees a sneak peak into 2013 and inviting everyone to plug in & get involved. CMB members were also invited to vote for two new board members during the meeting. TROY KRIECHBAUM of ENCOURAGEMENT FM Christian KVNE (89.5)/TYLER TX and GRANT HUBBARD from EMI/CMG were elected to serve in the upcoming term.

CMB award winners were honored at a special dinner following the TownHall meeting. RADIO STATION OF THE YEAR winners were small market KVNE TYLER TX, medium market WMHK COLUMBIA SC, large market WCSG GRAND RAPIDS MI, and major market KSBJ HOUSTON. DEAN O’NEAL won the SCOTT CAMPBELL INDUSTRY ACHIEVEMENT AWARD. KLRC FAYETTEVILLE AR was the winner of the ROB GREGORY COMMUNITY SERVICE AWARD. And STEVEN CURTIS CHAPMAN was selected as the very first recipient of the RICH MULLINS ARTIST IMPACT AWARD.

PASSION CITY CHURCH led the group in a worship session Wednesday evening, featuring LOUIS GIGLIO, CHRIS TOMLIN, CHRISTY NOCKELS and KRISTIAN STANFILL. A bevy of spectacular artists from the sponsoring labels rounded out the week, interspersed between educational sessions. Artists included KUTLESS, THE CITY HARMONIC, TENTH AVENUE NORTH, SANCTUS REAL, MARIE MILLER, REMEDY DRIVE, THE AFTERS, UNSPOKEN, THE MUSEUM, MATTHEW WEST, SIDEWALK PROPHETS, CITIZEN WAY, JEREMY CAMP, JAMIE GRACE, FINDING FAVOUR, JENNY SIMMONS, CITY HARBOR, RHETT WALKER BAND, AMY GRANT, MIKE WEAVER, MARK SCHULTZ, BRANDON HEATH, NATALIE GRANT, CHRIS AUGUST, GROUP 1 CREW, JASON CASTRO & MEREDITH ANDREWS.

There were various networking opportunities available, with the opportunity to listen and learn from your peers. These were hosted by industry leaders, and conversations were held around the table with takeaway readily available for everyone. The noon meal also offered the time to connect with friends & mentors over a gourmet boxed lunch.
