UNIV. OF NEBRASKA/OMAHA sports, including hockey and men's and women's basketball, will air on NRG MEDIA Sports KOZN (1620AM THE ZONE) and Sports KZOT-A (1180AM THE ZONE 2)/OMAHA this season in the first of a five-year deal brokered by rights holder NELLIGAN SPORTS MARKETING. Hockey will air on ZONE 2, with the rest shared between the two stations.
“We are excited to partner with the ZONE stations to bring both hockey and men’s and women’s basketball to the premier destination for sports radio in our market,” said UNO Dir./Athletics TREV ALBERTS. “This is a relationship that not only makes hockey a cornerstone of the programming but also puts our basketball teams back on the air during our first full year in the SUMMIT LEAGUE. Over the term of this agreement, we look forward to working with THE ZONE Platforms to further grow our presence on its airwaves and online.”
“This is a tremendous partnership for our stations,” said ZONE GM ANDY RUBACK. “Listeners are deeply rooted in UNO sports tradition and both teams have a following on a regional level. The dual coverage on both ZONE and ZONE 2 will mean listeners can always stay in touch with the two premiere sports programs.”
“We’re thrilled about our new partnership with the ZONE stations” said NELLIGAN SPORTS MARKETING SVP JOHN PENNY. “This agreement provides the University with outstanding coverage of its hockey and men’s and women’s basketball teams as well as provides our current and future corporate partners with an unmatched platform to reach the college sports fans located throughout the region.”
“We are pleased to bring UNO Sports to the OMAHA fan base. As the programs continue to grow and evolve, we look forward to partnering with the MAVERICKS to build exciting and successful platforms,” said OM NEIL NELKIN.
