WKLR Adds '90s Rock To The Mix

Expands Classic Rock List

COX MEDIA GROUP Clasic Rock WKLR (ROCK 96.5)/RICHMOND unveiled a station renovation YESTERDAY (9/16). WKLR became ROCK 96.5 -- RICHMOND's Home For Rock by adding rock songs from the '90s to its current playlist of Classic Rock. Artists include AEROSMITH, PEARL JAM, LED ZEPPELIN, ROLLING STONES, STONE TEMPLE PILOTS, GUNS N’ ROSES and AC/DC.

"It's hard to believe that 1990 was 22 years ago," said GM BOB WILLOUGHBY. "It's certainly time to add great Classic Rock from that decade to our playlist. This station is about great Rock music from the '60s through the '90s."

PD BUDDY VAN ARSDALE added, "Our audience let us know there is a big appetite for '90s rock in addition to great rock from earlier decades."

WKLR will keep its current jock lineup, with syndicated JOHN BOY & BILLY in the morning, MADISON JAMES middays, SAM GILES in the afternoon and BILLY DUNKLEY at night.
