BIRACH BROADCASTING Sports WCAR (ESPN)/DETROIT has appointed veteran MOTOWN TV and radio personality MARK WILSON as OM/PD/nights host. A multiple winner of the MICHIGAN BEST SPORTSCAST AWARD, WILSON returns to DETROIT following a stint in LAS VEGAS.
WILSON joins an on-air lineup that includes DAMON PERRY from 3-5p and ART REGNER and EDDIE MIO on "The Drive at 5" slot. "We already have two of the most talented personalities in the history of DETROIT sports radio," WILSON said. "DAMON ‘THE DOG’ PERRY has a proven track record locally and nationally; he’s wild! ART REGNER is known far and wide as the RED WINGS hockey guru on top of being one of the most outspoken voices in Michigan sports talk. EDDIE spent 11 years in the NHL with the WINGS, OILERS and RANGERS. He’s best buds with the great WAYNE GRETZKY and was best man at GRETZKY’s wedding. You’d never know EDDIE hadn’t done this before."
MIO’s vision of a "Man Cave" studio is being built in suburban BINGHAM FARMS. Owner SIMA BIRACH, JR. joined EDDIE in that vision. "We’re very excited to have Mark on board," BIRACH, JR. said. "He’s a veteran guy who has been in Detroit radio and TV for years and won awards doing it. MARK is already making a big difference."
WILSON begins his program director/operations duties immediately. His night time show from 7-10 will follow soon; early in the NFL and college football seasons. He can be reached at mark@espn1090.com.
