JOURNAL COMMUNICATIONS is closing a printing plant in NEW ORLEANS damaged by HURRICANE KATRINA and taking a charge of up to $3.4 million as a result. The company says its third quarter numbers will take a $1.6 million hit from KATRINA-related losses. JOURNAL expects ad sales weaknesses in publishing and broadcasting to cause the company to fall short of its previous $186-191 million third quarter revenue guidance and to land at the low end of its net income projection of $14-16 million.
