Following in the footsteps of FACEBOOK CEO MARK ZUCKERBERG's mission to take the focus off of how many people "Like" your FACEBOOK page in favor of how many people are "Talking About You," TWITTER co-Founder EV WILLAMS spoke last week about how the amount of TWITTER followers will soon be a secondary metric that gauges influence on that platform as well.
JACOBS MEDIA Dir./Digital And Social Strategies and MERGE author LORI LEWIS writes, "It's good to see the main social platforms acknowledge that the amount of 'likes' or 'followers' does not equate brand impact nor does it measure the quality and depth of your fan relationships. These are vanity metrics. It's the amount of motivated relationships your station has nurtured."
MERGE is dedicated to helping radio grow in the social and digital space. LORI's piece this week is titled, "A simple measure of followers doesn't capture your distribution."
