7954689 CANADA INC., a partnership of RAJIV PANCHOLY, PAUL TIETOLMAN, and NICOLAS TETRAULT, has been granted a new English-language Talk station in MONTREAL. The new station will air on 600 AM, the former home of the old CFCF-A/CIQC-A, with 10,000 watts daytime and 5.000 watts at night.
The group had initially applied for an French-language station on 690 AM, the former location of CBC RADIO-CANADA PREMIERE CHAINE French-language CBF-A (now on FM) and CINF-A, but was granted a French Talk station on 940 AM instead, the former CBC RADIO ONE affiliate CBM-A (now on FM), CIQC-A, and CINW-A (now defunct), for which the group had proposed an English-language station. BELL MEDIA RADIO won the license for 690 AM and moved Sports CKGM-A to the frequency as TSN RADIO 690; the CRTC offered 7954689 CANADA INC. the opportunity to apply for an English-language station on an alternative frequency.
