PITTSBURGH PUBLIC MEDIA and PUBMUSIC, operators of online Jazz station PITTSBURGH JAZZ CHANNEL, have signed a deal to buy noncommercial WVBC/BETHANY, WV from BETHANY COLLEGE for $135,000, according to the PITTSBURGH POST-GAZETTE. The deal, not yet filed with the FCC, is contingent on PPM, which would hold the license, raising the money for the purchase.
The group was formed in 2010 by former DUQUESNE UNIVERSITY Jazz-News-Talk WDUQ staffers while that station, now ESSENTIAL PUBLIC MEDIA News-Talk WESA, was in the process of being sold.
