MTV has changed its head of programming as DAVID JANOLLARI has been replaced by SUSANNE DANIELS, VARIETY reports. DANIELS previously programmed the WB NETWORK, where she oversaw series such as "Buffy the Vampire Slayer," "Felicity" and "Gilmore Girls."
"I grew up watching and loving MTV," DANIELS said. "It's remained a dynamic, young and meaningful brand. I'm excited to be a part of it and work with [MTV Pres.] STEPHEN [FRIEDMAN] and [MTV MUSIC & LOGO GROUP] VAN [TOFFLER], two people whom I've admired for a long time."
JANOLLARI, who joined the network in 2010, and the network agreed not to renew the deal which ends in 2013. It's unclear what JANOLLARI, who previously worked on HBO's "Six Feet Under," will do next.
DANIELS has her work cut out for her, in terms of turning around the network's falling ratings. MTV fell 46% in the 18-34 demo and dropped 38% in overall viewers vs. a year ago. From JULY-SEPTEMBER, MTV was averaging 861,000 viewers in primetime.
