The TALK SHOW BOOT CAMP is underway in NEW ORLEANS, with two days of panels and presentations about the talk format scheduled.
Presented by TALENTMASTERS' DON ANTHONY with GABE HOBBS MEDIA, the event at the WESTIN CANAL PLACE hotel kicked off with a Talk-oriented version of the analysis of five years of PPM data that ARBITRON's JON MILLER offers, followed by CBS RADIO/DALLAS' BRUCE GILBERT and GABE HOBBS discussing the findings, and P1 RESEARCH's KEN BENSON showing research on CLEAR CHANNEL Talk KOGO-A-F/SAN DIEGO midday host LADONA HARVEY's show (with a game HARVEY on stage reacting to the research while clips of her show were played).
The agenda for FRIDAY includes presentations by FRED JACOBS on digital media for Talk and Sports formats and DANIEL ANSTANDIG on social media and data that his LISTENER DRIVEN RADIO's TopicPulse product has uncovered; a panel on personal branding headed by KIPPER MCGEE; a session on hiring the "next generation of talk" moderated by ALL ACCESS' VP/News-Talk-Sports PERRY MICHAEL SIMON; and panels on the Sports format moderated by RICK SCOTT and "the future of talk" and the challenges facing talk radio headed by GABE HOBBS.
SATURDAY will offer a panel of "rising stars" of the format and NUVOODOO's CAROLYN GILBERT with a presentation of a study that analyzes why consumers listen to talk radio, and why some don't.
And HUBBARD News WTOP/WASHINGTON's JIM FARLEY added to his growing set of honors with this year's ANDREW ASHWOOD Award, presented by last year's winner, RICK SCOTT.
