CLEAR CHANNEL MEDIA + ENTERTAINMENT/FT. MYERS. FL stations WBTT (THE BEAT), WZJZ (Y100), WOLZ (THE RIVER) and WCKT (CAT COUNTRY) are embarking on a year-long campaign to feed students of lower income families starting with six area schools in LEE COUNTY and one in COLLIER COUNTY. The stations will utilize the power of broadcast media with a series of events and PSAs raising awareness to the growing epidemic of poverty and homelessness in our area’s school age children.
The first event will be held on WEDNESDAY, DEC. 12th when all four stations will host an on-air Radiothon to raise money towards the "CLEAR CHANNEL CARES for Kids" campaign. The goal is to raise $140,000 that will feed children of area schools for a period of 52 weeks -- after school, weekends, vacations and through summer break.
"We are committed to serving our community and children’s causes are of high importance to our CLEAR CHANNEL family," CCM+E FT. MYERS/NAPLES/PUNTA GORDA Market Manager SHERRI GRISWOLD said. "The CLEAR CHANNEL CARES for Kids campaign is our way of making a major impact in our listeners lives by allowing our children to focus on learning and growth rather than hunger."
