CBS Chicago Radiothon/Telethon Raises Funds For Hurricane Sandy Relief Effort

CBS LOCAL MEDIA/CHICAGO, including CBS RADIO News WBBM-A-WCFS, Sports WSCR-A (670 THE SCORE), Triple A WXRT, Top 40/Rhythmic WBBM-F (B96), Country WUSN, and Classic Hits WJMK (K-HITS 104.3) as well as CBS affiliate WBBM-TV (CBS 2), partnered with the RED CROSS OF GREATER CHICAGO to raise money for victims of Superstorm Sandy TODAY in a live radiothon and telethon. CBS CHICAGO CARES: RED CROSS SANDY RELIEF will continue until 7p (CT); the 13-hour fundraiser is taking pledges in a phone bank at the CBS 2 Broadcast Center.
“CHICAGO is a city of big shoulders and even bigger hearts,” CBS 2 President and General Manager MARTY WILKE said. “CBS CHICAGO is using its broadcast megaphone just days before Thanksgiving to remind everyone to give thanks and give back by donating to CBS CHICAGO CARES: RED CROSS SANDY RELIEF.”
ROD ZIMMERMAN, Senior Vice President and Market Manager of CBS RADIO CHICAGO, said, “Hurricane Sandy struck real close to home. We have colleagues, business associates and family members who are still living with the devastation from this horrific event. It is our civic responsibility as broadcasters to do everything we can to help make a difference.”
