Longtime influential radio veteran WILLIAM LEE (BILL) DALTON has passed away at the age of 90. DALTON, whose professional career began with METROMEDIA at WHK/CLEVELAND and then WIP/PHILADELPHIA, became one of the pioneers in the AC format by launching and managing WASH-FM/WASHINGTON, D.C. in 1968.
He would later become GM at KLAC/LOS ANGELES and WNEW/NEW YORK. In 1981, BILL and SUSAN DALTON formed THE DALTON GROUP, purchased their first station in the WASHINGTON, D.C. area; WXTR (XTRA 104), then acquired WGRR/CINCINNATI, then WWMG and WEND/CHARLOTTE, NC.
The Memorial Service will be SATURDAY, DECEMBER 1st at NORTH NAPLES UNITED METHODIST CHURCH at 11a, 6000 Goodlette Rd. North, NAPLES, FL 34109 -- (239) 593-7600. There will be a reception after the service at GREY OAKS COUNTRY CLUB.
