PACIFICA RADIO noncommercial Variety WPFW/WASHINGTON is making schedule changes that replace some local programming with syndicated shows and music with talk effective DECEMBER 3rd, reports WASHINGTON CITY PAPER.
The changes, announced on the station's website and in a FACEBOOK post by Interim PD BOBBY HILL, include the addition of the syndicated TAVIS SMILEY show for FRIDAYS 4-5p and "SMILEY AND WEST," with SMILEY and CORNEL WEST, for MONDAYS 10-11a; PUBLIC RADIO INTERNATIONAL's "THE TAKEAWAY" for weekdays 2-3p; NPR's "TELL ME MORE" weekdays 6-7p; MARGARET PRESSCOD's "SOJOURNER'S TRUTH" for TUESDAY through FRIDAY 10-11a; MITCH JESERICH's "THE LETTERS AND POLITICS SHOW" for MONDAY-THURSDAY 4-5p; the local "MORNING BREW" 6-8a weekdays; and Go-Go show "HOUSE OF SOUL" SATURDAYS 5-7p.
Listener reaction to the changes at FACEBOOK has been mostly negative so far, with complaints centering on the loss of some local shows and the wisdom of repeating some shows already airing on crosstown AMERICAN UNIVERSITY noncommercial News-Talk WAMU.
