Former WOOD Weekend Host Dies While Serving Prison Sentence

A former CLEAR CHANNEL Talk WOOD-A/GRAND RAPIDS weekend home improvement show host who later went to prison for extortion died while serving a two-to-twenty year sentence on NOVEMBER 27th, reports the GRAND RAPIDS PRESS.
ROBERT HOWARD BLODGETT, 63, died at a hospital in JACKSON, MI after taking ill at the PARNELL CORRECTIONAL FACILITY. His death was attributed to natural causes. BLODGETT, the former owner of his own construction and home improvement company, hosted a SATURDAY morning show on WOOD and was President of the GRAND RAPIDS HOME BUILDERS ASSOCIATION in 1997. He was arrested after a standoff with police in JANUARY 2011 and charged with extortion after allegedly threatening his ex-wife with death if she didn't write him a check for $5,000; he pleaded guilty in SEPTEMBER 2011.
