ENTERCOM AC WTPI/INDIANAPOLIS has flipped to an Adult Hits-type format as "THE TRACK" (a nod to the world-famous INDY MOTORSPEEDWAY). THE TRACK’s station image voice, JEFF DAVIS, introduced the new brand at 8:30a, followed by its debut set of music: ALICIA BRIDGES “I Love The Nightlife,” STEELY DAN “Reeling In The Years,” BILLY JOEL “Tell Her About It,” GRASS ROOTS “Midnight Confessions,” LIONEL RICHIE “You Are,” VAN MORRISON “Domino,” and ROD STEWART “Do Ya Think I’m Sexy.”
Adults 30+ ... absolutely love this music
The format was developed by ENTERCOM SVP/Programming PAT PAXTON, ENTERCOM/INDIANAPOLIS WZPL-WTPI OM SCOTT SANDS, and ACC Marketing & Consulting chief TOM WATSON. WATSON will oversee the station on a daily basis in-house, along with SANDS, until further notice.
WATSON describes the station as “Playing music from the 70’s and 80’s that radio mostly stopped playing a few years ago.” He continues, “We’ve found, through extensive research, complete passion with Adults 30+ who absolutely love this music.”
SANDS checked in with ALL ACCESS later in the day to assure us that the station will "have personalities ... and promotions ... and be interactive."
The site, www.1079thetrack.com, offers a webcast and promises that the station will play "The Most Music In The Morning" and "18-Tracks-In-A Row All Day At Work."
