FORT WORTH STAR-TELEGRAM columnist RANDY GALLOWAY has announced that he will retire from his radio gig as afternoon host at ESPN Sports KESN (ESPN DALLAS 103.3 FM)/DALLAS at the end of the year.
GALLOWAY told the STAR-TELEGRAM's ROBERT PHILPOT that his decision has nothing to do with CUMULUS MEDIA's pending LMA of the station. "I told the ESPN people, both [national] and local, over a year ago that I was retiring at the end of this current contract, which is DECEMBER 31st,” GALLOWAY told PHILPOT. “I want to give them plenty of notice to get a replacement in place. So there’s now basically five months to go on the contract. And nothing has changed about my plans to retire."
He added that ESPN has been in contact with him about national TV and radio opportunities after he retires from KESN, but that he would only work on a part-time basis.
