WMGC/Detroit Sports Flip Coming Monday

ALL ACCESS has learned that the flip at GREATER MEDIA AC WMGC (TODAY'S 105.1)/DETROIT's to Sports will happen on MONDAY (8/12), with a press conference in the morning and former sister Active Rock WRIF "DREW AND MIKE" co-host DREW LANE debuting his new afternoon show at 3p (ET), with former WRIF producer MARC FELLHAUER on hand.  After ALL ACCESS' initial post about the press conference FRIDAY morning, GREATER MEDIA issued a press release setting the conference and announcement of LANE's return to the air for 11a (ET) MONDAY at GREATER MEDIA's FERNDALE, MI studios.  ALL ACCESS has also learned that the station's name will not, as had been reported, include the ESPN brand, although the station will be an ESPN RADIO affiliate; a source tells ALL ACCESS that the name may be DETROIT SPORTS 105.1.

The flip has been the subject of much speculation in recent months, and pits the station against established FM format competitor CBS RADIO Sports WXYT (97.1 THE TICKET), which has the key pro play-by-play franchises, and two AM Sports outlet, CLEAR CHANNEL Sports WDFN-A and BIRACH Sports WCAR-A.
