CUMULUS Country WNSH (NASH FM)/NEW YORK “AMERICA’S MORNING SHOW” host BLAIR GARNER is spearheading a fundraising effort for STATEN ISLAND, NY resident PETE VADOLA, who recently lost his home.
In the aftermath of hurricane SANDY, VADOLA rescued more than 200 STATEN ISLAND residents by using a small motorboat to transport them to dry land. While his residence was not damaged by the storm, a fire last MONTH completely destroyed it, leaving VADOLA and his family homeless.
GARNER and co-hosts, TERRI CLARK, SUNNY SWEENEY, LEE ANN WOMACK and CHUCK WICKS appealed to listeners for information on how to set up a fundraising account to rebuild the VADOLA’s lives. The response was overwhelming and a fundraising account was established at a STATEN ISLAND branch of SIGNATURE BANK.
“Radio is at its best when it serves its community, and that very idea speaks to the core of who we are in Country music," said GARNER. "When someone needs help, you reach out because it's the right thing to do. And that's exactly what Pete did during Hurricane Sandy; we're going to do everything we can to take care of Pete and his family.”
