For a DJ, who plays a lot of music that's heard on the radio -- but primarily plays a lot more music that isn't, CALVIN HARRIS is doing pretty damn well for himself. FORBES reports that HARRIS (real name, SCOTTISH-born-and bred ADAM WILES) pulled in an estimated $46 million over the past 12 months, ostensibly earning the distinction of the highest-earning DJ in the world, writing and mixing EDM.
"The rise of dance music has been astronomical in the last three years and I happened to be in the right place at the right time," noted HARRIS, who earns the bulk of his money on the road, where fees in high-end markets like VEGAS could hit $300,000 for a single night’s work. He has also written songs such as "Awooga" that have done well overseas, as well as songs for artists such as FLORENCE WELCH, ELLIE GOULDING and RIHANNA. His last album, "18 Months," sold more than 25 million singles in the last year and clocked in with nine Top 10 hits in the U.K, breaking a record previously held by MICHAEL JACKSON.
