Football fans around AMERICA who were settling into their comfy chairs with some snacks and a cold one last night for the DENVER BRONCOS vs BALTIMORE RAVENS game apparently remembered to bring their smartphones -- with their TWITTER accounts logged in.
The TWITTER universe exploded when, "Prior to kickoff of the 2013 season opener, the NFL capitalized on seven months of pent-up demand for the biggest sport in AMERICA by giving rabid football fans exactly what they wanted: RYAN SEACREST, an Australian Country music star and the timely sounds of the biggest Swedish pop group of 1986," reported USA TODAY.
Reporter CHRIS CHASE took aim at SEACREST, and continued, "Before the scheduled kickoff, RYAN SEACREST was introduced to the crowd at SPORTS AUTHORITY FIELD AT MILE HIGH and drew predictable boos because, come on, it’s RYAN SEACREST. Even if you respect his work ethic and talent, as I do, it’s still RYAN SEACREST at a football game. You don’t have CRIS COLLINSWORTH hosting the PEOPLE’S CHOICE AWARDS, you know? SEACREST began his intro to the tune of EUROPE’s "The Final Countdown," a hit from 1986 that has been roundly mocked by pop culture staples like ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT. 'I only know of one other countdown that may be as big as this one,' SEACREST began before a jaunty walk amongst cheerleaders. Was he plugging his NEW YEAR’S ROCKIN’ EVE show? Uncouth, RYAN. Uncouth. This is the NFL’s night."
Folks on TWITTER weren't any kinder:
