ROBIN QUIVERS told listeners to the HOWARD STERN show on SIRIUSXM RADIO MONDAY MORNING about the battle with cancer that she has been waging for the past year. QUIVERS, STERN's longtime news anchor/sidekick, had previously disclosed the removal of a tumor from her bladder and had been doing the show via ISDN from her home, but MONDAY was the first extensive discussion of her recent illness, which she said was uterine cancer.
After a caller asked when QUIVERS would be returning to the studio, STERN and producer GARY DELL'ABATE said it had been since MAY 2012 that she had been absent, and after a brief recap of her bladder problems, STERN asked QUIVERS if she was ready to talk about her cancer, and she said she was. QUIVERS then detailed her tumor surgery and subsequent uncertainty about what her life would then be like (STERN said he was "freaking out" over the situation and was making funeral arrangements and writing a eulogy), and the search for the source of the cancer, which turned out to be her uterine. After going to MEMORIAL SLOAN KETTERING in NEW YORK for a second opinion, she went for chemotherapy and radiation, missing only about two shows during the ordeal, and is now cancer-free.
