CBS RADIO and Sports WFAN-A-F/NEW YORK have renewed their deal with the NBA's BROOKLYN NETS and have expanded the arrangement to include select college basketball and boxing events at the NETS' BARCLAYS CENTER. The parties will also create and produce original concerts and sporting events to be marketed on CBS RADIO stations in 27 markets nationwide. The NETS have been airing on WFAN since 2004-05 (as the NEW JERSEY NETS), and the deal expands the pre- and post-game shows for "a number of games" and adds a weekly "BROOKLYN NETS REPORT" to JOE BENIGNO and EVAN ROBERTS' midday show.
“CBS RADIO provides a commanding broadcast partner for the NETS and BARCLAYS CENTER that delivers widespread exposure and promotion for our franchises,” said NETS and BARCLAYS CENTER CEO BRETT YORMARK. “We are thrilled to continue airing NETS games on WFAN-AM/FM and expanding team coverage throughout the season, but we are just as excited about the opportunity of broadcasting other prominent events from BARCLAYS CENTER, including select concerts, major college basketball and big time boxing, which will re-ignite a popular NEW YORK pastime.”
“Today’s announcement marks the union of two great companies with expertise in delivering high quality programming, appealing to a broad spectrum of sports and entertainment fans,” said CBS RADIO President DAN MASON. “This partnership presents a unique opportunity to connect our listeners, not only in NEW YORK, but across the country, with exceptional brands and an outstanding venue, and provides CBS RADIO with content for our on-air and audio digital platforms.”
The boxing events under the BROOKLYN BOXING banner are promoted by GOLDEN BOY PROMOTIONS. The college basketball games are billed as BROOKLYN HOOPS.
