Longtime radio vet STEVE PORTER, who started the morning news and talk program at WRNN/Myrtle Beach, died Friday at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center, MYRTLE BEACH ONLINE reports. He was 73.
A broadcaster whose career spanned for decades, PORTER worked in WASHINGTON, D.C., to cover national politics before moving to MYRTLE BEACH in 1992. He became host of WRNN’s morning show in 1995 and most recently provided a weekly commentary to the station.
People can pay their respects to PORTER’s family at MCMILLAN-SMALL FUNERAL HOME, 910 67th Ave. N. in MYRTLE BEACH, from 5-7p on TUESDAY. The funeral service will be held 2p WEDNESDAY at First Presbyterian Church, 1300 N. Kings Highway in MYRTLE BEACH.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made in PORTER’s memory to the LONG BAY SYMPHONY, Parkway Center, 950 48th Ave. N., Suite 202, MYRTLE BEACH, SC 29577.
