KMJQ's Kandi Eastman Announces Personal Cancer Battle

RADIO ONE Urban AC KMJQ (MAJIC 102.1)/HOUSTON middays KANDI 'THE SWEET TALKER' EASTMAN announced on her show TODAY (10/1) that she has breast cancer. EASTMAN, who's been on the air in HOUSTON for over 19 years, made the announcement on this the first day of BREAST CANCER AWARENESS MONTH.

In a press release, RADIO ONE/HOUSTON VP/GM DOUG ABERNETHY commented, "Only KANDI EASTMAN would be strong enough to share her personal health issue. The sharing of her cancer diagnosis will prayerfully inspire others to realize the importance of early detection and screening. The RADIO ONE family has huddled around her, and we look forward to her radio family joining us in prayers for her and her family."

RADIO ONE/HOUSTON OM TERRI THOMAS added, "KANDI is the 'First Lady' of MAJIC 102.1 and over the past 19 years has been a shining star of strength for our staff and community. It is our time to give back to KANDI and be strong for her as she recovers. KANDI is a fighter, and we will fight with her."
