MAJOR LEAGUE SOCCER's new NEW YORK CITY FOOTBALL CLUB will air on CBS RADIO Sports WFAN-A-F/NEW YORK under a multiyear deal when the team launches in 2015. NEW YORK CITY FC is a partnership between the NEW YORK YANKEES and the PREMIER LEAGUE's MANCHESTER CITY and is the second MLS franchise in the NEW YORK market after NEW YORK RED BULLS, who play in HARRISON, NJ. The new club has yet to announce a stadium, although it is negotiating to build a new ground near CITI FIELD in FLUSHING.
“We’re thrilled to partner with a station as prestigious as WFAN,” said FERRAN SORIANO, CEO of MANCHESTER CITY. “This is a huge opportunity for the team to bring football to all New Yorkers, right from the onset of our playing debut.”
“As the nation’s leading sports radio station, we always look for ways to bring every type of sport to the NEW YORK area’s fans,” said CBS RADIO NEW YORK SVP/Market Manager DON BOULOUKOS. “Soccer is beloved across the world, and with the NEW YORK CITY FOOTBALL CLUB coming to NEW YORK, it’s the perfect time to further ignite the passion soccer fans have and bring coverage and play-by-play of this new team to the TRI-STATE area listeners.”
