Former NPR Host, CBS News Reporter Lee Thornton Dies At 71

Condolences to family and friends of former NPR "ALL THINGS CONSIDERED" host and CBS NEWS Correspondent LEE THORNTON, who died SEPTEMBER 25th of pancreatic cancer in BETHESDA, MD at 71.
THORNTON began her career at NBC affiliate WLWT-TV/CINCINNATI, then joined NBC in 1974, covering the WHITE HOUSE in 1977-81. After a stint at then-CBS affiliate WJBK-TV/DETROIT, she hosted the weekend edition of "ALL THINGS CONSIDERED" in 1982-84, then served as anchor/reporter for the U.S. CHAMBER OF COMMERCE's AMERICAN BUSINESS NETWORK and professor at HOWARD UNIVERSITY. A brief run at CNN preceded THORNTON's joining the UNIVERSITY OF MARYLAND's MERRILL COLLEGE OF JOURNALISM faculty as a professor from 1997 until her 2011 retirement.
