WTLC/Indianapolis Fires DJ For Playing Own Song

RADIO ONE Urban AC WTLC-F/INDIANAPOLIS has fired "CLUB 106.7" DJ RUSTY REDENBACHER for playing a song on which he appears during the SEPTEMBER 27th show.

The INDIANAPOLIS STAR reports that REDENBACHER said he was told that he was fired under a zero-tolerance policy for playing "Sriracha," a song by the band COSBY SWEATER on which he provides vocals, and because the song didn't fit the format,  REDENBACHER, a longtime figure in the INDIANAPOLIS hip-hop scene, told the STAR he thought a suspension would have been more reasonable than a firing.  "I've seen this happen to other people," he told the paper.  "This is the way radio is. I just don't appreciate the way it was done."
