SIRIUSXM has agreed to repurchase $500 million LIBERTY MEDIA common stock. The deal was announced this morning. Reportedly, LIBERTY MEDIA will keep its majority ownership in the satellite radio provider at 52% after the repurchase.
Separately, LIBERTY MEDIA and COMCAST also made a deal. Their recently completed transaction involves subsidiaries of COMCAST and LIBERTY MEDIA. The companies exchanged approximately 6.3 million shares for a newly created subsidiary of LIBERTY MEDIA, which holds LEISURE ARTS, and approximately $417 million in cash.
SiriusXM Names George White SVP/Music Licensing
SIRIUSXM RADIO has appointed GEORGE WHITE SVP/Music Licensing, MUSICWEEK reports. Formerly VP/Strategy and Product Development at WARNER MUSIC GROUP. WHITE will oversee music licensing, work closely with programming and business development departments on strategic partnerships with labels and PROs, and oversee royalty reporting and payment operations.
