JVC Top 40/Rhythmic WPTY (PARTY 105)/LONG ISLAND has stepped to the plate to help the SACHEM school district's music program and specifically, its marching band. The district is short $50,000 to continue to fund the band. JVC COO VIC 'LATINO' CANALAS and WPTY PD MATT GOLDAPPER, both SACHEM alums, got wind of the district's shortfall and went to work on it.
When CANALAS got started trying to set up a fundraising show, GRAMMY winning artist SHAGGY just happened to be in studio doing an interview with WPTY. SHAGGY graciously agreed to headline the fundraising show to save the SACHEM band. JVC and WPTY's SAVE THE MUSIC CONCERT will be on FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 1st.
SACHEM MARCHING BAND PARENTS ALLIANCE VP GUY DELLECAVE commented, "Radio stations just don't do this kind of stuff, but PARTY 105 and JVC BROADCASTING are a local LONG ISLAND company and they are constantly doing things for the community, it is just great to have them in our backyard."
JVC COO VIC 'LATINO' CANALES added, "This event was a no-brainer for us. Our company was built on the ideology that radio is live, local and all about the community, this is what we do, we bring live, local radio back to the community and we have fun doing it."
