Several Artists Earn First Gold Or Platinum Digital Single Awards From RIAA

The RECORDING INDUSTRY ASSOCIATION OF AMERICA (RIAA) announced seven artists who received their first Gold or Platinum DIGITAL SINGLE AWARDS.
Platinum winners of more than 1 million downloads include LANA DEL RAY for "SUMMERTIME SADNESS" and Country superstar GEORGE STRAIT with "GIVE IT ALL WE GOT TONIGHT."
Among the first-time Gold recipients in SEPTEMBER were VERMONT rock band GRACE POTTER & THE NOCTURNALS and RANDY NEWMAN's "YOU'VE GOT A FRIEND IN ME" from the "TOY STORY" soundtrack.
It was certified 6x multi-Platinum for "BLURRED LINES" by ROBIN THICKE and the IMAGINE DRAGONS' "RADIOACTIVE."
In the album side, JAY Z's summer release "MAGNA CARTA...HOLY GRAIL" took
SEPTEMBER's top honor -- a double-Platinum winner -- while Platinums were awarded
to Country stars LUKE BRYAN and BLAKE SHELTON for their 2013 respective
releases "CRASH MY PARTY" and "BASED ON A TRUE STORY."
