As many remain impacted by the wrath of Superstorm SANDY, CBS RADIO News WCBS-A begins a series of reports today called "A Year After Sandy."
News Dir. TIM SCHELD told ALL ACCESS that reporters are returning to some of the hardest hit neighborhoods in the tri-state area that they covered during the storm and its aftermath. SCHELD said, "This series is just a continuation on what we've been doing all year, telling stories about the tough recovery."
Leading up to the OCTOBER 29th anniversary, each day WCBS-A will shine a light on communities devastated by SANDY, from SEA BRIGHT to LONG ISLAND.
CBS RADIO News WINS/NEW YORK is also making its SANDY plans.
In the wake of the destruction, the station produced a four-month series examining several small businesses that managed to reopen despite severe damage. News Dir. BEN MEVORACH told ALL ACCESS that they will revisit those businesses to check on their progress. The original series was called "Open For Business. The updated reports will be titled "Back In Business."
On next week's anniversary, WINS will be live throughout the tri-state with reports from 5a to 10p. MEVORACH says they will focus on how far residents have come since the hurricane made landfall, and the challenges that remain.
