WARNER MUSIC AUSTRALIA has teamed up with CONVERSE sneakers, SHARPIE, and EBAY to launch the "IN THEIR SHOES" charity for cancer awareness month. IN THEIR SHOES will auction off one of a kind sneakers with artwork designed by today's top artists to raise funds for THE NATIONAL BREAST CANCER FOUNDATION or a charity of the artist's choice.
The inspiration behind the IN THEIR SHOES initiative was born when WARNER MUSIC's blog COOL ACCIDENTS was filming an "UNDER THE BRIDGE SESSION" with the Alternative band GROUPLOVE.
Before the filming began, the crew noticed a unique pair of sneakers worn by the band's tour manager which were designed by vocalist HANNAH HOOPER. Over the course of 18 months, local and touring musicians were asked to create their own shoe designs with nothing more than a pair of white CONVERSE sneakers and SHARPIE fabric markers.
This resulted in 70 pairs of sneakers designed by musicians from all over the world from BRUNO MARS, THE BLACK KEYS, ED SHEERAN, JAMES BLUNT, NEW ORDER, KIMBRA, MACKLEMORE AND RYAN LEWIS, RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS, SKRILLEX and the original pair of shoes that started it all from GROUPLOVE.
The shoes will be auctioned on EBAY with bids beginning at $99, from THURSDAY (10/24) through TUESDAY (10/29) on the dedicated page at WWW.EBAY.COM.AU/INTHEIRSHOES.
