Sheila Stewart, Radio One Washington News Director, Killed In Car Accident

Condolences to the family and friends of RADIO ONE/WASHINGTON, D.C. News and Community Affairs Director SHEILA STEWART, who died yesterday morning in an ATLANTA car accident. RADIO ONE confirmed her death in a statement.
"The RADIO ONE family is deeply saddened at the untimely passing of our employee and we extend our sincere condolences to her family and friends,” Founder/Chairperson CATHY HUGHES said. "A talented colleague, SHEILA’s contributions will long be felt by her RADIO ONE family and the lives she touched through her various charitable connections and community organizations.”
STEWART was staying with her sister and working in ATLANTA at the time of the deadly crash.
NBC WASHINGTON reports STEWART was driving westbound on Interstate 20 when her MERCEDES BENZ came to a full stop for an unknown reason. She was hit from behind by a westbound box truck.
STEWART had more than 20 years in the business, most recently delivering news for RADIO ONE's WKYS-F, WPRS(PRAISE 104.1), WOL-A, WYCB-A (SPIRIT 1340), and WMMJ-F (MAJIC 102.3).
On the WPRS website, RADIO ONE is encouraging listeners to leave their messages and memories of STEWART.
