KKTX Host Jim Lago Battles Hearing Loss, Stays On The Air

CLEAR CHANNEL Talk KKTX-A/CORPUS CHRISTI host JIM LAGO is battling the loss of his hearing but is continuing his show, reports NBC affiliate KRIS-TV.

LAGO told KRIS-TV that he woke up on OCTOBER 16th unable to hear the TV, and thought it was a problem with the cable company until he took a shower and noticed that he could not hear the water.  He said that he is getting steroid injections into his eardrum and doctors are running tests and MRIs, but that the cause of the loss is yet to be determined.  In the meantime, he says that he has gotten help answering the phones on the air and is slowing down to listen better, and has started to wear a hearing aid, according to a post on the station website.

"Some people that call the show say that I don't listen to anybody," LAGO told the TV station. "They hired me because I have an opinion about stuff, and I came up with some pretty good reasons why. I mean, it's not like I lost my tongue. I didn't lose my ability to speak."
