Radio companies are facing another patent lawsuit, this time over HD RADIO.
WYNCOMM LLC, a patent holding company that recently sued computer makers over a Wi-Fi patent, turned its attention to radio broadcasters in lawsuits filed FRIDAY (11/1) in DELAWARE asserting three patents on In-Band On-Channel digital transmission were infringed.
Each lawsuit alleges that the defendants infringed patents for which "DELAWARE RADIO TECHNOLOGIES, LLC" is the sole licensee, and claims patents on "Side-Channel Communications in Simultaneous Voice and Data Transmission,” “Voice Activated Date Rate Change in Simultaneous Voice and Data Transmission,” and “Technique for Modulating Orthogonal Signals with One or More Analog or Digital Signals.” The suits ask for unspecified monetary damages.
BEASLEY, CBS, CC MEDIA HOLDINGS, COX, CUMULUS, ENTERCOM, ENTRAVISION, GREATER MEDIA, HUBBARD, RADIO DISNEY, RADIO ONE, SAGA, TOWNSQUARE, and UNIVISION were each sued by WYNCOMM in the matter. iBIQUITY DIGITAL, however, was not sued.
